openDesktop Contacts

Keep your contacts management a simple task. Back up your contacts and sync them across all your devices.

Contacts is an easy to use app with great import and export options. When you open Contacts for the first time, you will see it’s empty.

Contacts can be added manually or import using a Vcard/VCF (Virtual Contacts File). Supports import of vCards version 3.0 and 4.0.

Creating a new contact

  1. Click on a + New contact button from Apps information panel
  2. In the Application view an empty new contact is created
  3. Specify the new contact information

Changes that you made are implemented immediately.

Importing contacts

To import Vcard contacts, go to Settings in the Apps information panel and click on Import into button.

After importing is finished, click on X button in the top right corner.

Exporting contacts

From the Settings in the Apps information panel, click on a ··· and choose Download.

You can also create, rename, download, delete and share address books.

Sort your contacts by first name, last name, display name and last modified.

Managing contact information

Select a contact from the Contacts list and add, change or delete information and fields.

To define a contact picture, click on the upload button.

Groups

You can assign one or more groups for contacts. Created groups will be displayed in the Apps information panel.

Synchronizing with Android

  1. Install DAVx⁵ (formerly known as DAVDroid) on your Android device.
  2. Create a new account with + button.
  3. Select Connection with URL and username
    Base URL: URL of your openDesktop Cloud instance
    https://my.opendesktop.org/remote.php/dav/
    Contact Group Method: As credentials
  4. Choose the option Groups are per-contact categories.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. Select the data you want to sync.
